Duphalac is used to help remedy chronic constipation.
INSTRUCTIONS
Take medicines just as prescribed through your doctor. Do not take it in larger amounts or longer than recommended. Follow the directions on the prescription label.
Measure liquid medicine which has a special dose-measuring spoon or cup, not a regular table spoon. If you do not have a dose-measuring device, ask the pharmacist for one.
The liquid way of lactulose could become slightly darken in color, but it is a harmless effect. However, do not use the medicine if it becomes very dark, or whether or not this gets thicker or thinner in texture.
Lactulose powder should be combined with a minimum of 4 ounces of water. You may also use veggie juice or milk to produce the medication better.
It might take around two days before you decide to have a bowel movement after taking lactulose.
If you have lactulose more than a long period of time, your medical professional might prefer one to have occasional blood tests. Do not miss any scheduled appointments.
If you missed a dose - consider the missed dose once you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, hold off until then to consider the medicine and skip the missed dose. Do not take extra medicine to make the missed dose.

Lactulose is a sugar. It is divided inside the large intestine into mild acids that draw water to the colon, which assists soften the stools.
Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs and symptoms of a hypersensitivity: hives; lack of breath; swelling of your respective face, lips, tongue, or throat. Stop using lactulose and call a medical expert immediately in case you have severe or ongoing diarrhea.
Less serious unwanted effects might include: bloating, gas; stomach pain; diarrhea; or nausea, vomiting.

FDA pregnancy category B. This medication isn't supposed to be bad for an child. Tell your physician in case you are pregnant or intend to become pregnant during treatment. It just isn't known whether lactulose passes into breast milk or whether it could harm a nursing baby. Do not use this medication without telling your physician if you are breast-feeding an infant.
Avoid using antacids without your medical professional's advice. Use only the specific kind of antacid a medical expert recommends. Antacids contain different medicines and some types can make it more difficult for the body to absorb lactulose.
