INDICATIONS
Proscar is used for treating urinary problems a result of an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia, BPH). It is also used to lower the risk of needing surgery to deal with BPH. It could possibly be used with another medicine (doxazosin) to lessen the potential risk of worsening BPH. Proscar is a kind of steroid reductase inhibitor. It works by lowering the level of the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in your body. This makes the prostate smaller, which helps to alleviate urinary problems.
