INDICATIONS
Emsam is indicated for the management of major depressive disorder.
INSTRUCTIONS
Use Emsam exactly as directed on the label, or as it continues to be prescribed by your doctor. Do not use more than recommended. Follow the directions on the prescription label.
For patients using Emsam: While you are using Emsam and for 14 days as soon as you stop, you must not eat foods full of tyramine (classified by the "What should I avoid?" section of this leaflet. Eating these foods while you're taking Emsam can raise your blood pressure to dangerous levels.

Do not stop using Emsam suddenly or perhaps you might have harmful side effects. It may take several weeks of employing Emsam before your symptoms improve. For best results, keep while using medication as directed. Store Emsam at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
If you missed a dose - go on it whenever you remember. If it is almost time for it to take the next pill, skip the missed dose and make medication at the next regularly scheduled time. Do not take extra pills to make up the missed dose.
DOSAGE
The recommended starting dose and target dose for Emsam (selegiline transdermal system) is 6 mg/24 hours.
STORAGE
Store Emsam at 20º to 25º C (68º to 77º F).[See USP Controlled Room Temperature.] Keep far from children, pets or others.
Get emergency medical help if you have some of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Call your medical professional simultaneously in case you have any new or worsening symptoms such as: mood or behavior changes, anxiety, panic attacks, sleep problems, or if you really feel impulsive, irritable, agitated, hostile, aggressive, restless, hyperactive (mentally or physically), more depressed, or have thoughts about suicide or hurting yourself.

Do not use Emsam if you're allergic to selegiline, when you have an adrenal gland tumor (also referred to as pheochromocytoma), or if you want to get any type of surgery. Do not use Emsam when you have taken any from the following drugs within the past two weeks:
After you stop using Emsam, you must wait at the very least 14 days when considering with the medications in the above list.You must wait a minimum of 5 weeks after stopping fluoxetine (Prozac) before you start employing Emsam.

You may have thoughts about suicide when you initially begin to use an antidepressant, especially should you be younger than 24 years of age. Tell your physician when you have worsening signs of depression or suicidal thoughts during the first several weeks of treatment, or as soon as your dose is changed.
Your family or any other caregivers should also be tuned in to changes in your mood or symptoms. Your doctor will have to check you at regular visits for at the very least the initial 12 weeks of treatment.
FDA pregnancy category C. Emsam could be damaging to an developing fetus. Tell a medical expert if you are pregnant or want to conceive during treatment. It is not known whether Emsam passes into breast milk or if it might harm a nursing baby. Do not use prescription drugs without telling your physician if you are breast-feeding your baby.
